Chicago Fire FC secured a decisive 5-1 victory over the San Jose Earthquakes during the Coachella Valley Invitational held at the Empire Polo Grounds in Indio, California. The match took place on Wednesday morning, with Jonathan Bamba and Brian Gutiérrez each netting two goals for Chicago, while Philip Zinckernagel contributed one goal and two assists.

The scoring began early when Bamba converted a penalty in the fourth minute after being fouled in the box. Just eight minutes later, Gutiérrez extended Chicago's lead by capitalizing on a turnover with an assist from Zinckernagel.

In the 16th minute, Zinckernagel scored his first goal for Chicago following a counterattack initiated by Bamba. Shortly after, Gutiérrez earned his second goal through another penalty kick in the 27th minute. Before halftime, Bamba completed his brace with assistance from Zinckernagel.

Both teams made several substitutions at halftime. However, San Jose managed to score their only goal of the match in the 56th minute when Chicho Arango found the back of the net with a powerful shot.

Disciplinary actions included yellow cards for Chicago's Acosta and San Jose's Wilson and Rodrigues.
