City of Prospect Heights Fire & Police Commission met Jan. 29

CALL TO ORDER – At 4:03 PM, Deputy Clerk Austin called to order the Regular Meeting of the Fire Police Commission at City Hall, 8 N Elmhurst Road, Prospect Heights, IL 60070.
ROLL CALL - Deputy Clerk Austin called roll. A quorum was present.
COMMISSIONER'S PRESENT - Chairman Hoffman, Commissioner Fiorito, Commissioner Riebman
COMMISSIONER'S ABSENT - None
OTHER OFFICIALS PRESENT – Chief Caponigro, Deputy Chief Derman, Deputy Clerk Austin
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
A. Approval of the December 18, 2024 Fire Police Commission Minutes
Chairman Hoffman moved to approve the December 18, 2024 Fire Police Commission Minutes as presented; seconded by Commissioner Fiorito. There was unanimous approval.
ROLL CALL VOTE: AYES - Hoffman, Fiorito, Riebman
NAYS - None
ABSENT - None
Motion carried 3 - 0
CLOSED SESSION - At 4:10 PM Chairman Hoffman moved to go into Closed Session pursuant to Section 2 (c) 5 ILCS 120/2 (c): Employment Matters; seconded by Commissioner Fiorito. There was unanimous approval.
ROLL CALL VOTE: AYES - Hoffman, Fiorito, Riebman
NAYS - None
ABSENT - None
Motion carried 3-0
RETURN TO OPEN SESSION – At 4:51 PM Chairman Hoffman moved to return to Open Session; seconded by Commissioner Riebman. There was unanimous approval.

NAYS - None
ABSENT - None

NEW BUSINESS - This will be Chief Caponigro's final Police & Fire Commission meeting before officially retiring next Monday. There will be a 1042 celebrating Chief on Monday February 3rd. Part- time Officer Hearth is almost completed with his part-time field training, and full time hire Coleman is in the Chicago Police Department Academy. There are two events coming up, the first is coffee with the PHPD at Rob Roy Golf Course on February 18th and the second is the annual awards ceremony on February 27th at Old Orchard Golf Course.
OLD BUSINESS - None
DEPARTMENTAL UPDATES/CORRESPONDENCE - There will be two new squad cars added to the fleet, both are replacements. One replacement was for a totaled squad car and the other was for a fire that occurred in one of the squad cars.
PUBLIC COMMENT – None
The Next Regular Meeting of the Fire Police Commission is scheduled for Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at 4 PM, City Hall, 8 North Elmhurst Road, Prospect Heights, IL 60070.
ADJOURNMENT – At 4:52 PM, Commissioner Riebman moved to Adjourn; seconded by Chairman Hoffman. There was unanimous approval.
