A former correctional officer from the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Chicago faces charges from a federal grand jury for allegedly sexually abusing four inmates.
Brittany Hall, 31, of Chicago, is accused of committing these acts while serving as a correctional officer for the U.S. Bureau of Prisons in December 2023. At that time, she was responsible for overseeing inmates in Unit 12 of the MCC. Hall resigned from her position at the BOP in 2024.
The indictment includes five counts of sexual abuse of a ward, each carrying a potential sentence of up to 15 years in federal prison, and three counts of abusive sexual contact, with each count punishable by up to two years in federal prison. The arraignment is set for today at 1:00 p.m. before U.S. Magistrate Judge Heather K. McShain.
Morris Pasqual, Acting United States Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois; Douglas S. DePodesta, Special Agent-in-Charge of the Chicago Field Office of the FBI; and William J. Hannah, Acting Special Agent-in-Charge of the Midwest Regional Office of the Department of Justice’s Office of Inspector General announced the indictment. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jonathan L. Shih represents the government.
It is important to note that an indictment contains only charges and does not constitute evidence of guilt. The defendant remains presumed innocent and has the right to a fair trial where the government must prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
