Chicago Fire FC defender Andrew Gutman has been named to the MLS Team of the Matchday for Matchday 4. This recognition follows his performance in the team's 2-1 victory over Toronto FC at BMO Field in Toronto, Canada.
Gutman secured his first appearance on the MLS Team of the Matchday for Chicago after scoring his second goal of the season. The goal came after Jonathan Bamba dispossessed Toronto's Federico Bernardeschi and passed to Gutman, who scored from outside the box, equalizing the match at 1-1.
This marks only the second time in Gutman's career that he has scored in consecutive matches. He last achieved this feat in August 2022 with Atlanta United FC against Seattle and Cincinnati.
The weekly honor is Gutman's first of this season and his second overall for Chicago. He previously appeared on the MLS Team of the Matchday bench once in 2024 after scoring against D.C. United. Additionally, he was recognized following a performance on Matchday 18 of the 2023 MLS regular season with Atlanta United.
Chicago Fire FC will conclude their three-game road stretch with a match against Vancouver Whitecaps FC on March 22 at BC Place. The game will be broadcast globally on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV and locally via WLS 890 AM, wlsam.com (English), and Que Buena 105.1 via Uforia app (Spanish).
