Brian Gutiérrez joins USMNT for Concacaf Nations League semifinals

Chicago Fire FC and the U.S. Soccer Federation have announced that Brian Gutiérrez, a Homegrown Player from Chicago Fire FC, has been called up to the U.S. Men’s National Team for the 2024-25 Concacaf Nations League Finals. The team will face Panama in the first semifinal on March 20 at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, with the match broadcast live on Paramount+ and Univision.

This marks Gutiérrez's second call-up under head coach Mauricio Pochettino. He previously joined the team for U.S. Soccer’s annual January Camp, where he earned his first two USMNT caps and starts in matches against Venezuela and Costa Rica.

Gutiérrez, aged 21, began his professional career with Chicago Fire FC after being promoted from their academy at 16. Since then, he has played in 123 matches and was named to the MLS 22 Under 22 class for two consecutive years. In 2024, he scored six goals for Chicago Fire FC, achieving a career-high for a single season.

The Concacaf Nations League aims to increase competitive matches among its 41 Member Associations. The league's format includes more direct elimination matches to qualify teams for continental competitions. The USA is competing in League A of the tournament.
