Chicago Fire FC is prepared to face CF Montréal at Soldier Field on Saturday night. The match, which marks the team’s return to the lakefront, will begin at 7:30 p.m. CT. Fans can catch the game globally on Apple TV’s MLS Season Pass, or locally on wlsam.com in English and Que Buena Fire in Spanish via the Uforia App.
The starting lineup announced by Chicago Fire FC’s Director of Football and Head Coach, Gregg Berhalter, has not changed from the team that secured a 3-1 victory against Vancouver Whitecaps FC last week. Goalkeeper Chris Brady is set to make his 70th appearance in a regular season, placing him close to third all-time among goalkeepers for the team.
"Jack Elliott makes his sixth start of the year for the Fire, donning the captain’s armband for the third consecutive time," said Berhalter. Elliott will pair with Sam Rogers at center-back, while Leonardo Barroso will make his Soldier Field debut as right back. Andrew Gutman will feature as left back, marking his 123rd appearance in the MLS.
Without Brian Gutiérrez, who is unavailable due to a lower body injury, Sam Williams will start for the second consecutive time at Soldier Field. Homegrown players Sergio Oregel, Jr., and Mauricio Pineda will join Williams, with Pineda being notable for leading all players on the team with 130 appearances in regular season play.
Striker Hugo Cuypers, who will attempt to tie the Fire’s record for consecutive games with a goal, will make his sixth start of the season. Philip Zinckernagel, fresh off an appearance on the MLS Team of the Match for his recent play, will again be on the right wing. Jonathan Bamba will play opposite Zinckernagel, still in search of his first goal of the season at Soldier Field.
Aside from Gutiérrez, other unavailable players include Jonathan Dean, Chase Gasper, Kellyn Acosta, David Poreba, and Chris Mueller. The bench options for the Fire include Jeff Gal, Carlos Terán, Omar González, and several others.
