The Chicago Sky has made a strategic addition to their roster by selecting guard Aicha Coulibaly in the second round of the 2025 WNBA Draft. Coulibaly, who played for Texas A&M, was the 22nd overall pick in the draft.
"Aicha Coulibaly is a strong perimeter defender and elite slasher, making her a good fit for us," commented Sky General Manager Jeff Pagliocca. "We’re excited to add such a dynamic player on both sides of the ball at this point in the draft."
Throughout her college career, Coulibaly demonstrated consistent performance. In her five seasons at both Auburn and Texas A&M, she maintained averages of 13.2 points, 5.7 rebounds, 1.8 steals, and 0.6 blocks in 127 games, starting in 110 of them. Her accomplishments include being a two-time Second Team All-SEC honoree during the 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons.
Coulibaly's early career at Auburn saw her averaging 5.1 points as a freshman. She improved significantly in her sophomore year, achieving 17.1 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 2.2 steals per game. Her transfer to Texas A&M in her fourth season allowed her to maintain steady averages and contribute to the team's success in ending a two-year absence from the NCAA Tournament.
In her final collegiate season, Coulibaly participated in 19 games, averaging 12.8 points and 5.0 rebounds. Additional details about the draft and analysis of prospects are accessible on the official 2025 WNBA Draft site.
As the Chicago Sky approaches their 20th season under new head coach Tyler Marsh, Kamilla Cardoso and Angel Reese are part of the returning roster. Meanwhile, Courtney Vandersloot and Ariel Atkins have joined the team during the offseason. The team is set to open their regular season on May 17 against the Indiana Fever in Indianapolis.
