Chicago Fire FC began their four-game road trip with a decisive 4-1 victory over Charlotte FC at Bank of America Stadium. The match saw Brian Gutiérrez score twice and assist Jonathan Bamba's second goal of the season, while Philip Zinckernagel also found the net.

The first half ended with Chicago leading 1-0 after Bamba scored in the 40th minute. In the second half, Gutiérrez extended the lead by scoring his first goal since the season opener. He later assisted Zinckernagel for a third goal before completing his brace with a penalty kick.

Charlotte's Patrick Agyemang scored in the 70th minute, but it was not enough to change the outcome. "Gutiérrez stepped up for his second penalty kick opportunity of the season, finishing cleanly to complete his brace and clinch the match for the Men in Red."

Chicago Fire will continue their Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup campaign against New England Revolution on May 20.
