Chicago is preparing for the release of Marvel Television's "Ironheart," which will be available for streaming on Disney+ starting June 24. The city's Office of Emergency Management and Communications (OEMC) has collaborated with Marvel to celebrate this event by featuring an "Ironheart"-themed wrap on the CTA Red Line, known as the "Backbone of Chicago." This initiative also extends to billboards, social media, and other platforms.
The campaign highlights the connection between the series and Chicago, where Riri Williams, played by Dominique Thorne, returns as a young inventor after the events of "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever." The series features technology clashing with magic as Williams encounters Parker Robbins, portrayed by Anthony Ramos. Other cast members include Lyric Ross, Manny Montana, Matthew Elam, Anji White, Regan Aliyah, and Alden Ehrenreich. The head writer is Chinaka Hodge, with episodes directed by Sam Bailey and Angela Barnes. Executive producers include Kevin Feige and others.
OEMC continues its collaboration with Marvel Comics through this campaign by offering illustrated public safety tips inspired by Ironheart's adventures. Residents are encouraged to use the Chicago OEMC App for safety information and emergency alerts. The app provides weather updates and preparedness tips and can be downloaded from Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
This public safety campaign is funded by federal preparedness grants. For more details about OEMC services or to receive notifications from Notify Chicago alerts, residents can visit Chicago.gov/OEMC or follow OEMC on various social media platforms.
