Chicago Fire FC is set to host Los Angeles Football Club at SeatGeek Stadium in Bridgeview, Illinois, on Saturday, August 9. The match marks Chicago’s return to their former home stadium for the first time in the 2025 regular season.
The Fire come into the game after a bye week and a recent 1-0 win over New York Red Bulls at Soldier Field. Hugo Cuypers scored his 14th goal of the season, securing his fifth game-winning goal this year. Goalkeeper Chris Brady earned his seventh win and second consecutive shutout with that result. This victory moved Chicago above the Red Bulls into ninth place in the Eastern Conference, while also giving them a game in hand.
LAFC resumes league play following three matches against Liga MX teams during the 2025 Leagues Cup. Before that tournament, LAFC lost 1-0 to Portland Timbers, with Christhian Paredes scoring just before halftime and Maxime Crépeau recording his third clean sheet of the season.
Saturday’s fixture will be only the third meeting between Chicago and LAFC since LAFC joined Major League Soccer in 2018. The Fire lead the series with one win and one draw: they won 3-1 at home in September 2018 and drew 0-0 away in Los Angeles in 2019.
LAFC enters this match after playing five games over fifteen days, including challenging contests against Mazatlán F.C., C.F. Pachuca, and Tigres UANL during Leagues Cup play. Their busy schedule could impact player fatigue as they face Chicago.
SeatGeek Stadium has historically been a difficult venue for visiting teams; opponents have managed only a combined record of 55 wins, 102 losses, and 72 draws there during regular season play. Earlier this year, Chicago shut out Detroit City FC by four goals at SeatGeek Stadium during the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.
Team captain Jack Elliott has featured prominently for Chicago this season, leading all players on minutes played (2,039) and earning back-to-back selections to MLS Team of the Matchday starting lineups—the first Fire player to do so since Álvaro Medrán in 2021. Elliott previously played all minutes of MLS Cup 2022 against LAFC as a member of Philadelphia Union.
Goalkeeper Chris Brady has posted two consecutive shutouts heading into this match—the first such streak since July of last year—and will look to extend it against an LAFC side known for its attacking strength.
This weekend’s contest begins a nine-week stretch where Chicago plays weekly matches—six of which are at home—culminating with an October fixture against Toronto FC. During this period, they will also face tough road games versus Philadelphia and Miami later in August.
Fans can watch Saturday’s match at 7:30 p.m. CT on MLS Season Pass via Apple TV or listen locally on WLS 890 AM (English), wlsam.com (English), or Que Buena Fire through the Uforia App (Spanish). A replay will air Monday night on Marquee Sports Network.
