Chicago Fire FC II has signed Swiss winger Damian Nigg to an MLS NEXT Pro contract that runs through 2026, with a club option for 2027. The financial terms of the deal were not released.

"Damian is somebody who has played with the Swiss youth national teams and has already played first team football in Switzerland,” said Chicago Fire FC Sporting Director Gregg Broughton. “We are excited for the opportunity to work with him in our second team environment and hopefully give him the chance to progress towards our first team.”

Nigg, who is 20 years old, comes from Grasshopper Club Zürich where he spent five seasons developing within their youth system. During his time at Grasshopper Club, Nigg made 106 appearances and scored 26 goals across all competitions, including matches in both the 1. Liga Classic and Schweizer Cup. In his most recent season, he scored five goals over 25 league matches for the U-21 side that led their group in the 1. Liga Classic.

He also appeared three times for Grasshopper Club’s senior team during the 2023/24 regular season. Internationally, Nigg represented Switzerland at various youth levels and scored once in 14 appearances.

The signing aims to bolster Chicago Fire FC II’s roster as they look to develop young talent capable of advancing to higher competition levels.
