Chicago Fire FC secured a 3-2 win over the New England Revolution at SeatGeek Stadium on Saturday night, moving into ninth place in the Eastern Conference with 42 points. The match saw contributions from wingers Jonathan Bamba and Philip Zinckernagel, while forward Hugo Cuypers scored his sixth game-winning goal of the season. Midfielder André Franco made his home debut for Chicago, providing two assists.

The scoring began early when Bamba converted a pass from Brian Gutiérrez less than two minutes into the match. Eight minutes later, Franco set up Zinckernagel, who extended Chicago’s lead to 2-0. In the second half, Dje D’Avilla initiated a play that led to Franco assisting Cuypers for Chicago’s third goal in the 68th minute.

New England responded with Peyton Miller scoring in the 78th minute. In stoppage time, Carles Gil converted a penalty kick to narrow the gap to one goal. Despite late pressure from New England, goalkeeper Chris Brady made a crucial save to preserve Chicago’s victory.

Following this result, Chicago Fire FC will return to Soldier Field for their next match against New York City FC on September 13 at 7:30 p.m. CT. The game will be available globally via MLS Season Pass on Apple TV and locally through wlsam.com and Que Buena Fire via the Uforia App, with a replay scheduled on Marquee Sports Network.

Philip Zinckernagel’s performance brought his total to 12 goals and 13 assists for the season, surpassing Ante Razov’s previous record for second-most goal contributions by a Fire player in a single campaign. He now trails only Nemanja Nikolić’s record of 28 contributions set in 2017. Hugo Cuypers reached his 16th goal of the year, tying him with Mike Magee (2013) and Nikolić (2018) for third-most goals in one season for Chicago; his six game-winning goals tie Ante Razov's mark from 2000.

André Franco marked his first start and home appearance with two assists—the first multi-assist performance since Zinckernagel achieved it against LAFC on August 16. Defender Jonathan Dean made his career-high 14th start as Leonardo Barroso was away on international duty with Portugal’s U-21 team.

Attendance at SeatGeek Stadium was reported at 16,947.
