Chicago Fire FC will play Inter Miami CF in a rescheduled Major League Soccer match on Tuesday, September 30 at Chase Stadium in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.
The Fire come into the match following a 2-0 victory over Columbus Crew at Soldier Field. Defender Andrew Gutman scored his first goal of the season in his 31st appearance, and forward Hugo Cuypers added his 17th goal to secure the win. Goalkeeper Chris Brady and the defense limited Columbus to seven shots, earning Chicago their second consecutive shutout and marking their 14th win this season.
Inter Miami CF recently played to a 1-1 draw against Toronto FC. Midfielder Tadeo Allende put Miami ahead just before halftime, but Djordje Mihailović equalized for Toronto early in the second half. This result marked Toronto's seventh straight draw.
Tuesday’s match was rescheduled because Inter Miami participated in the 2025 Leagues Cup final. The teams last met on April 13, resulting in a scoreless draw at Soldier Field. In their previous encounter at Chase Stadium on July 20, Miami defeated Chicago 2-1.
A win for Chicago would break the club record for most away victories in a single season. They matched their previous record of eight road wins set in 1999 after defeating Minnesota United FC earlier this month. The team has achieved back-to-back shutouts against playoff contenders as they approach the postseason.
Danish winger Philip Zinckernagel has contributed to 17 goals on the road this year, ranking him second in MLS for away goal involvements. He previously recorded a goal and an assist during Chicago’s win over Orlando City SC earlier this season.
Midfielder André Franco registered his fourth assist in four matches during the recent game against Columbus Crew. Since joining Chicago five matches ago, Franco has quickly adapted to his new teammates.
With his latest goal, Hugo Cuypers now ranks sixth all-time among Chicago Fire scorers with 27 regular season goals for the club.
The upcoming match is scheduled to kick off at 6:30 p.m. CT and will be available globally via MLS Season Pass on Apple TV, with local radio coverage on wlsam.com (English) and Que Buena Fire through the Uforia App (Spanish).
