Chicago Fire FC defender Christopher Cupps has been selected for the U.S. U-17 Men’s National Team roster for an upcoming domestic training camp, according to an announcement from both Chicago Fire FC and U.S. Soccer. The camp is scheduled to take place from October 6 to October 10 in Fayetteville, Georgia, and will serve as the final preparation before head coach Gonzalo Segares names the 21-player squad for the 2024 FIFA U-17 World Cup in November.
Cupps, who is 17 years old, signed a first-team contract with Chicago Fire FC on February 18, 2025, becoming the club's 27th Homegrown Player. He has started in four of his five appearances this season, which includes four Major League Soccer matches and one match in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. Cupps made his MLS debut against Nashville SC on April 26, 2025, and later became the youngest player in club history to start a match during a scoreless draw against Orlando City SC on May 31, 2025.
The roster for the U-17 Men's National Team includes players from clubs across Major League Soccer and other professional teams nationwide. Cupps represents Chicago alongside players such as Gio Villa (Real Salt Lake; Chicago, Ill.) and Chase Adams (Columbus Crew; Naperville, Ill.).
“Chicago Fire FC Homegrown defender Christopher Cupps has been named to the U.S. U-17 Men’s National Team roster for a domestic training camp during the October International FIFA window,” according to the official announcement.
The upcoming camp will be critical as it is the last opportunity for players to secure their place on the team that will compete at the FIFA U-17 World Cup next month.
