Jesse Brown VA Medical Center in Chicago has announced the launch of a new VA health care orientation program. The initiative will include four orientation sessions over the next year, aimed at helping Veterans and their caregivers understand the services available to them.
The program is designed to provide an overview of health benefits, pharmacy services, and both primary and specialty care options. Participants will also be given a tour of the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center and have the opportunity to ask questions directly to health care experts.
"VA offers a wide range of physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual services many Veterans are not familiar with," said Lachon Tyre, Veterans Health Education Coordinator. "VA health care orientation addresses this issue by walking Veterans and their caregivers through the many options we provide."
Each session will last about 90 minutes. Information about upcoming orientations and how to participate is available online. For those unable to attend in person, the Veteran Health Education Coordinator can be reached at 312-596-6658 for alternative ways to learn about available benefits.
The Jesse Brown VA Medical Center is part of the VA Chicago Health Care System, which serves a seven-county area in northeast Illinois and northwest Indiana through five locations. These include the main medical center, a Community Resource and Referral Center, and four community-based outpatient clinics located in Chicago and Crown Point, Indiana. The system operates within the Veterans Integrated Service Network 12 (VISN 12), which covers Wisconsin, Illinois, northwestern Indiana, and Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.
