There have been 167 incidents where shots were fired on Chicago-area expressways this year. In 2018, there were 43. We have seen this increase first-hand in the 39th Ward. The overwhelming majority of these incidents are not road rage related but are incidents that have started somewhere else, continued to the expressway, and spilled into communities that have expressway ramps.
