At yesterday's City Council meeting, Mayor Lori Lightfoot introduced a resolution to create a special City Council Committee to oversee the selection of a Chicago casino.
The Office of Emergency Management and Communications (OEMC) and the Chicago Police Department (CPD) have coordinated with Dr. Willie Wilson and his staff to provide City and department resources to mitigate traffic conditions and ensure public safety during the gas giveaway on Thursday, March 24.
Mayor Lori E. Lightfoot and Public Health Commissioner Allison Arwady, M.D., announced that the City will remove the mask and vaccine requirements for certain public spaces on February 28 to align with the State of Illinois’ previously announced plans to lift the statewide indoor mask mandate on that day.
You may recall that on February 4, a downstate court issued a legal decision regarding Governor Pritzker’s requirements for COVID-19 safety measures in schools. This decision was immediately appealed by the Illinois Attorney General, and today, we received the results of that appeal.
I know summer construction season can be a hassle. Even if you aren't trying to drive on torn up streets or walking around missing sidewalk squares, the construction noise certainly can be annoying. Infrastructure projects are a necessity though, whether it's replacing 100-year-old water mains, resurfacing a street that's littered with potholes from the harsh Chicago winter, or installing new fiber internet capability in an area, these projects pay off in the long run.
