Extreme Cold Coming To Chicago This Weekend
Chicago’s first true winter weather of the season is expected to begin this week and continue into the coming weeks, with snowfall projected over the weekend along with temperatures plummeting into the negatives. As subzero cold sets in for the first time this year, CDPH urges all Chicagoans to exercise caution and use best practices to keep themselves safe, warm, and dry through the winter. Temperatures of 0 and below are extremely hazardous to human health, and exposure to the cold without proper preparation can lead to hypothermia, frostbite, and worse in a matter of minutes. Make sure to take the following precautions:

O’Hare Courtesy Shuttles Moving to Terminal 2 starting Feb. 1
Effective Thursday, Feb. 1, hotel shuttles and off-airport parking shuttles at O’Hare International Airport will pick up passengers on the Terminal 2 Lower-Level Arrivals roadway curbside. On that date, operations at the Bus Shuttle Center will cease, with all courtesy shuttles picking up at Terminal 2 and all regional buses picking up at the Multi-Modal Facility.

COVID Remains On The Rise In 2024
Hospitalizations related to COVID-19 are on the rise, moving Chicago and Cook County from the “Low” to “Medium” level based on metrics from the CDC. As of just before Christmas (the latest data available), 30 people on average are being admitted daily to hospitals in Cook County, an increase of 14% from the previous week.

The Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) today joined public and private sector partners to celebrate the graduation of a group of 31 trainees from Greencorps Chicago, the City’s green job training program for individuals with barriers to employment. Graduates of the paid nine-month long program gained extensive training and practical experience in the classroom and in the field in ecological restoration, landscaping, tree care, carpentry, green infrastructure and environmental health and safety, along with essential job readiness skills.
