Vote 10

Chicagoans offered a broad range of thoughts on social media recently after Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan announced she would not seek a fifth term.

“There’s no money left to pilfer,” Jon Carey posted on Facebook.

“She has something in her next plans,” Rhonda Biggs wrote. “Both her and her dad have been nothing but bad news for the state of Illinois.”

“Hallelujah now if we can only get rid of her dad,” Christopher Kelley posted.

“Take your daddy and the horse you both rode in on and move to another state,” Marilyn Gerhardt posted.

But not everyone was as critical of Lisa Madigan.

“Another sad day for Illinois,” Anita Kollmann posted. “She had done a wonderful job! Sorry to see her go, but I thank her for her service!”

“I remember meet Lisa Madigan and was surprised how funny she was,” Gary Weber wrote. “To all you people who subscribe to strict party politics need to step back a bit.”

“Despite the ignorant comments, you did a great job,” Kelly Gordon Robison posted. “The state will miss you.”

Some respondents also speculated about Lisa Madigan's future.

“She taking her mothers job that pays $350,000 a year doing nothing,” Terry Castleman wrote.

“Next Democratic Presidential Nominee,” Kevin Carroll posted.

Madigan has been the attorney general for 14 years. Her term expires in January 2019.
