Mayor Lori Lightfoot, Gov. J.B. Pritzker, the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) and World Business Chicago recently announced plans for Kimberly-Clark's new commercial center arriving in Chicago in 2022.
With the decision to move the company's commercial center to Illinois, the company who produces Huggies, Kleenex, Scott and U by Kotex, has secured a spot alongside 37 Fortune 500 Companies who also have headquarters in the state.
"Kimberly-Clark’s move to Illinois is just the latest sign that our investments in talent, innovation and digital infrastructure are not only paying off for residents, but are creating the ideal environment for companies to leverage our unique assets and pursue long-term growth,” said Pritzker in a statement.
The new commercial center will create 250 jobs. It is scheduled to open by spring 2022 and will be located on the 1100 block of W. Fulton Street.
Lightfoot expressed her eagerness in beginning a partnership with the corporation.
"On behalf of Chicago, I am thrilled to welcome the Kimberly-Clark team and look forward to working closely with them to identify ways to both enhance their business and further our region's reputation as a hub for economic growth, innovation and opportunity," she said in a statement published by the mayor's office.
President and CEO of the Illinois Manufacturers' Association, Mark Denzler, showed his support for Kimberly-Clark's growth plan on Twitter.
"Excited to see @KCCorp announce plans to bring a new commercial center and 250 jobs to Chicago. They make trusted brands such as Huggies, Cottonelle, Kleenex, and Depend which are sold into more than 175 countries," he said.
The personal products giant has qualified for the EDGE incentive program offered by the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) to support companies making large scale capital investments.
