About the Crime:

This alert gives notice to property owners in the 003rd District (Grand Crossing) of recent burglary incidents. In each incident, the offender entered a garage by forcing open a side door and took property from within. These incidents have occurred in the geographical locations listed below:

Incident locations and times:

•  6200 block of south Evans Ave. on January 25, 2023 between 6:00 A.M. and 9:00 P.M.
•  900 block of east 62nd St. between January 25, 2023 at 11:30 P.M. and January 26, 2023 at 2:30 P.M.
•  6200 block of south Greenwood Ave. on January 26, 2023 at 3:15 P.M.
•  6200 block of south Greenwood Ave. on January 26, 2023 at 11:55 P.M.

About the offender:

•  The offender is described as an African-American male, 25-40 years old, 5'05-5'07 in height, 180-200 lbs, dark complexion, wearing a gray skull cap, black jacket, and gray pants.

What you can do:

•  Keep the perimeter of your property well lit
•  Report suspicious activity immediately
•  Keep doors and windows secured
•  Immediately repair any broken windows, doors, or locks
•  If video surveillance is available, save and make a copy of the incident for investigating detectives
•  Make an agreement with your neighbors to watch each other's homes for suspicious activity
•  If you are a victim do not touch anything, call police immediately
•  If approached by a witness to the incident, request contact information
