Maya Solis, daughter of FBI mole and former Alderman Danny Solis, resigned from her six-figure position as the south region director for the Chicago Park District, as per published reports.
Solis had held her post in the Park District since Mar. 2012. In addition to this role, she served in various positions such as a regional field director for Hillary Clinton's campaign and a special events coordinator for the Illinois Housing Development Authority. From 1997 to 2002, according to her LinkedIn profile, she worked at City Hall as an assistant to the commissioner.
The park district officials have not released an official statement about Solis' resignation. Nevertheless, WBEZ reported that it followed weeks after they ran a story that revealed that she did not report a 2018 sexual harassment allegation to human resources, infringing on district policy. As a result of their investigation into this matter, they recommended appropriate disciplinary action be taken against Solis.
Further backdrop to this event is provided by the fact that her father, former Alderman Danny Solis became involved in federal investigations into corruption when he turned into a cooperating witness for the FBI in 2016. This was part of an extensive corruption probe by the federal government leading to indictments against former Alderman Edward Burke and former state House Speaker Michael Madigan.
