CHICAGO (July 1, 2024) – The Chicago Sky and Mamava, the inventor of the lactation pod and a free app that helps breastfeeding parents find places to pump or nurse on the go, today announced a new multi-year partnership.

As the official sponsor of lactation support for the Chicago Sky, Mamava donated two lactation pods that will be located at Wintrust Arena for use by game-day guests as well as employees of the team and facility. Medela provided a hospital-grade breast pump for use in the pods. The new lactation pods were unveiled at a ribbon-cutting ceremony last week.

“Mamava has done great things to make the world a more equitable place for breastfeeding. Through their advocacy and support, they’re helping others—both organizations and individuals—reimagine what’s possible,” said Alex Teodosi, Chicago Sky Vice President of Corporate Partnerships. “We are proud to partner with an organization so closely aligned with our spirit and mission.”

Over the next two seasons, the Chicago Sky and Mamava will partner to raise awareness of the need for public lactation infrastructure and support, celebrating the idea that breastfeeding and pumping happen everywhere parents may go.

“We are thrilled to join the Chicago Sky as its official lactation support partner,” said Sascha Mayer, Mamava Cofounder. “There’s never been a more exciting time in women’s sports—the Sky is truly changing the game by considering care infrastructure in the fan and player experience. Chicago is of course a great sports city, and the city has also been a leader in lactation support. Mamava has placed pods in all major stadiums, airports, and Navy Pier among other locations.”

Mamava lactation pods are freestanding spaces that provide dignified, comfortable, and private options to breastfeed or pump. The pods are accessed through the Mamava app, which guides users to a pod’s location and provides secure keyless entry. Mamava has helped organizations—from airports and stadiums to schools and private businesses—come into compliance with lactation space legislation and support breastfeeding parents. Mamava pods can be found at close to 50 locations across Chicago.
