Chicago Fire FC II secured a 3-2 victory over New England Revolution II on Sunday afternoon at SeatGeek Stadium, improving their record to 8-4-6-5. David Poreba scored his league-leading 12th goal of the season, while Lamonth Rochester and Jason Shokalook each added their second goals of the year. This marks Chicago's sixth home win in the Eastern Conference this season.
The match began with New England taking an early lead through a penalty kick converted by former Fire winger Alex Monis in the 13th minute. Chicago quickly responded when Rochester headed a cross from Justin Reynolds, then followed up with a left-footed finish to equalize in the 17th minute.
Three minutes later, Reynolds assisted Omari Glasgow, who set up Shokalook for a one-touch right-footer to give Chicago a temporary lead. However, an own goal by Chicago two minutes later leveled the score again.
In the 26th minute, Shokalook was fouled in the box, resulting in a penalty kick for Chicago. Poreba capitalized on the opportunity, driving his shot down the middle to put his team back on top.
Despite New England's efforts to equalize in the remaining hour of play, Chicago's defense limited them to three shots on target in the second half. The Fire maintained their lead and secured three points at home for the sixth time this season.
The match saw several disciplinary actions with yellow cards issued to Los (CHI), Calderon (NE), Leal (NE), Klein (NE), Tiago (NE), and Bolma (NE).
