Inpatient admissions rose by 32%, and Medicare swing bed days surged by 173%. The observation unit saw a 400% increase in 23-hour admissions, indicating a rising need for short-term acute care. Emergency room visits increased by 40%, highlighting the hospital's role in urgent medical care. Ambulance services also grew with a 32% increase in total runs, while bypass cases dropped by 57%, suggesting improved efficiency.
Rehabilitation and diagnostic services experienced notable growth. Physical Therapy treatments increased by 11%, while Occupational Therapy treatment surged by 112%. Radiology services expanded with exams up by 15% and visits increasing by 18%.
Outpatient clinic visits varied across locations. Greene County Rural Health Clinic had a patient visit increase of 38%. Greenfield and Roodhouse clinics recorded growth at 6% and 9% respectively. However, Carrollton saw a decline of 21% due to closing on Sundays.
Despite positive trends in many areas, Lab services saw a decrease of 14% in tests performed and patient volume due to losing a contract with White Hall nursing home. The hospital is exploring new opportunities to expand partnerships.
Financially, Boyd Memorial Hospital improved its position with monthly cash collections reaching $1.5 million for the first six months of fiscal year 2025, up from $1.1 million during the same period in fiscal year 2024. This reflects growing patient volume and adaptability to healthcare changes.
