Chicago Fire FC II's midfielder, Vitaliy Hlyut, has been selected to join the U.S. U-17 Men’s Youth National Team for a training camp scheduled from March 18-25 in San José, Costa Rica. The announcement was made by Chicago Fire FC II and U.S. Soccer.

The U.S. team is set to play two friendly matches against Costa Rica on March 22 and March 24 as both nations prepare for the 2025 FIFA U-17 World Cup. These teams secured their spots in the tournament during the Concacaf U-17 qualifiers held in February.

Hlyut recently became notable for being the first player from the Chicago Fire Academy to sign directly with Chicago Fire II, marking a significant step in his professional development. He has participated in several training camps with the U.S. Men’s Youth National Team and last played for them in the Ježek Cup in Hustopeče, Czech Republic, from August 30 to September 9, 2024. During this tournament, he competed against Germany, Czech Republic, and Slovenia.

In the previous MLS NEXT Pro regular season of 2024, Hlyut appeared in 16 matches for Chicago Fire II, scoring once and providing one assist. His professional debut took place on March 17 when he came off the bench during a match against FC Cincinnati 2 that ended in a draw. Shortly after, he scored during the opening round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup against Chicago City SC, becoming one of the youngest players to score in this competition.
