FOIA Request to Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority Regarding State Agency Contracts with Vendors on March 24, 2025.
As part of our ongoing commitment to transparency and accountability in government affairs, Chicago City Wire has submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority. Our request seeks comprehensive documentation and details regarding the fulfillment of contractual obligations for all contracts executed or modified between this state agency and their vendors during January of the 2023 fiscal year.
Specifically, we are requesting records that verify the scope of work performed, deliverables completed, and any reports or evaluations related to these contracts. Access to such public records is crucial for us as media professionals dedicated to holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.
In line with our role in disseminating information, we have requested a fee waiver under the provisions applicable to media professionals. This aligns with our mission as members of The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy, a non-profit organization assisting news media companies and public advocacy groups in investigating governmental agencies through Freedom of Information and Sunshine Laws.
