Chicago Sky fall to Indiana Fever in season opener

The Chicago Sky began their 2025 regular season with a defeat against the Indiana Fever, losing 58-93 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on May 17. Angel Reese led the Sky's efforts, achieving a double-double with 12 points and 17 rebounds in her debut for the season. Ariel Atkins also made her first appearance for the Sky, contributing 11 points, four rebounds, two assists, two steals, and a block.

Courtney Vandersloot returned to the team after previously playing from 2011 to 2022. She ended the game with four points, four rebounds, and five assists. Alongside Atkins, Kia Nurse, Rebecca Allen, Hailey Van Lith, and Maddy Westbeld also debuted for the Sky during this match.

Kamilla Cardoso contributed seven points and seven rebounds while adding two blocks and two steals. Rachel Banham scored eight points and Rebecca Allen added seven to the team's total.

The Sky managed to keep the game competitive in the first quarter through effective ball movement but struggled as the Fever took control in the second half.

Caitlin Clark was a standout performer for Indiana, recording a triple-double with 20 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists, two steals, and a career-high of four blocks. Aliyah Boston added a double-double with 19 points and 13 rebounds. Natasha Howard and Kelsey Mitchell each scored 15 points to support their team's victory.
