Chicago Fire FC has announced the loan of goalkeeper Bryan Dowd to its MLS NEXT Pro team, Chicago Fire FC II, for the remainder of 2025. Dowd, aged 22, recently returned from a loan spell with FC Tulsa and was on the bench during Chicago Fire's 2-1 victory over Atlanta United FC on May 10 at Soldier Field.

Dowd joined Chicago Fire as the sixth overall pick in the MLS SuperDraft 2024. He spent part of last year on loan with Huntsville City FC, Nashville SC’s MLS NEXT Pro side, where he played full matches in all seven appearances.

During his college career at the University of Notre Dame in the 2023-24 season, Dowd achieved a .699 goals-against average and was a semifinalist for the MAC Hermann Trophy. He also earned recognition as Top Drawer Soccer Player of the Year, becoming the first goalkeeper to receive this honor. Besides his role as starting goalkeeper, he served as a backup kicker for Notre Dame's football team.

Before joining Notre Dame, Dowd was part of both the Chicago Fire Academy and Chicago FC United. Internationally, he has played for the U.S. U-17 Men’s Youth National Team.
