The Chicago Sky will retire Allie Quigley's No. 14 jersey during a pregame ceremony on July 9, when the team faces Dallas. This marks the first time the Sky organization will retire and honor a player's jersey.
Quigley expressed her gratitude for her basketball career, saying, "It’s not easy saying goodbye to basketball, but I feel so lucky to have been able to play in the WNBA and live out my dream." She added, "And to be able to play in Chicago for my hometown team?!? It doesn’t get any better. All I can say is THANK YOU!"
The retirement ceremony will include an on-court tribute with special guests and a video montage highlighting Quigley's career with Chicago. Before the event, Joliet Catholic High School, Quigley's alma mater, plans to host a community celebration featuring a girls' basketball clinic.
On game day at Wintrust Arena, there will be displays commemorating Quigley's achievements and storytelling about her time with the Sky across various platforms leading up to the retirement. Fans attending the game can expect a special giveaway and limited-edition merchandise available both in-store and online. Quigley will also address fans during the game.
Following the match on July 9, Quigley is scheduled for a post-game press conference.
Sky CEO and President Adam Fox stated: "Allie Quigley will always be synonymous with Chicago Sky basketball," adding that her contributions were pivotal in securing the team's 2021 championship and shaping its culture.
Quigley played ten seasons with the Sky from 2013-22 after growing up in Joliet, Illinois, and attending DePaul University. She was instrumental in winning the team's first championship in 2021 while averaging 15.2 points per game during that postseason run.
Known for her three-point shooting prowess, she holds a career average of 39.4% from beyond the arc and won multiple WNBA Three-Point Contests between 2017-2022. Her accolades include being named Sixth Player of the Year consecutively from 2014-15 and making three All-Star appearances from 2017-19.
Quigley leaves as Chicago's all-time leader in three-pointers made (504) while ranking second only recently surpassed by Courtney Vandersloot—her wife—in total points (3,723) and field goals (1,386).
