Chicago Fire FC II has been recognized as the MLS NEXT Pro Team of Matchweek 16. This follows their recent performances, including a 3-1 victory over Inter Miami CF II and a 1-1 draw with Crown Legacy FC, which extended their unbeaten streak to eight games in the regular season.

The team began Matchweek 16 with a win against Inter Miami CF II at Chase Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Midfielder Trip Fleming scored twice in the second half, securing the game-winning goal in the 77th minute. Winger Claudio Cassano contributed three assists, while forward Jason Shokalook opened the scoring with his fourth goal of the season.

Returning home to SeatGeek Stadium in Bridgeview, Illinois, Chicago faced Crown Legacy FC and secured a 1-1 draw. Homegrown midfielder Dylan Borso scored for Chicago and initiated a successful shootout performance by making his shot. Teammates Cassano, Fleming, Shokalook, and defender Diego Konincks followed suit to earn an additional point. This result marked an eight-game unbeaten streak for Chicago Fire FC II—the longest single-season run in team history.

This accolade marks the third time this season that Chicago Fire II has been named Team of the Matchweek. The last recognition came during Matchweek 12 after defeating Columbus Crew 2 with a decisive 5-0 scoreline at SeatGeek Stadium.

Looking ahead, Chicago Fire FC II will face Chattanooga FC on Saturday, July 5 at Finley Stadium in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The match is scheduled for a 6:00 p.m. CT kickoff and will be available globally via MLS Season Pass on Apple TV.
