ILLINOIS STATE HOUSE DISTRICT 25: Tarver Named to Property Tax Relief Task Force
Illinois State House District 25 issued the following announcement on Aug. 5.
State Rep. Curtis J. Tarver II, D-Chicago, will join a bipartisan Property Tax Relief Task Force aimed at delivering recommendations to provide real property tax relief for homeowners under legislation signed Friday.
“High property taxes are making it difficult for seniors and residents throughout our community to make ends meet,” Tarver said. “We have to take a comprehensive look at ways to limit the rise in rates, as well as ideas to provide relief for families while still ensuring we invest properly in local services and schools.”
Tarver was chosen to represent the House Democratic Caucus on the Property Tax Relief Task Force that was created through Senate Bill 1932. The task force is expected to provide a report within 90 days to the governor and General Assembly outlining structural and legislative changes that would provide short- and long-term relief for homeowners.
Members of the task force, including Tarver, will serve without compensation.
“I look forward to reviewing best practices and taking a close look at how proposed changes to our property tax system could impact our state,” Tarver said. “This is a topic of concern I hear frequently from residents. It’s time to deliver real results for them.”
