Wirepoints released data on COVID situations, one of which reports in a tweet that “Illinois #COVID hospitalizations are down 82% since their peak in November and are now below the summer lows. COVID deaths are collapsing as a result, down also by 81% from their highs in December.”

According to Wirepoints, despite Illinois’ daily update on COVID-19 since April, which many groups have called for, including Wirepoints, there is still information needed to understand and review the situation.

Data on the IDPH website could be more significant if there are daily updates on “the number of daily COVID-19 hospital admissions and discharges,” which can provide insight into “how the spread of the coronavirus is progressing,” Wirepoints stated.

The comorbidities present in COVID-19 fatalities are also a piece of relevant information to identify “what demographics are most vulnerable to the disease.”

“Antibody tests are important because they indicate how much of the population had the coronavirus, with or without symptoms, and are therefore likely to be immune for some period of time,” Wirepoints claimed. Antibody test results conducted in the state could be of help. “A large prevalence of antibodies in the population would indicate that the effective fatality rate is smaller than first thought.”

Determining the trends can help identify "when parts of the economy can begin to reopen," according to Wirepoints.
