Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said the first busload of illegal immigrants captured in Texas has arrived in Chicago.

Abbott has begun sending illegal immigrants by the busload to sanctuary cities such as Chicago.

“First Texas bus of migrants has arrived in Chicago,” Abbott said on Twitter. “Biden’s inaction at our border puts Texans at risk & is overwhelming our communities.”

As a sanctuary city, Chicago will not deny the illegal immigrants services based on their status, Abbott noted, making the city an ideal place for those illegally entering the country. Abbott noted the program was in response to President Joe Biden’s “open borders” policy. The Texas Division of Emergency Management has been placed in charge of the busing program. In April, Texas sent a busload of illegal immigrants to Washington, D.C. New York City received others in August. Abbott noted the program in a press release. His administration noted the response is due to “President Biden’s open border policies overwhelming border communities in Texas.”

"President Biden's inaction at our southern border continues putting the lives of Texans- and Americans-at risk and is overwhelming our communities," Abbott stated in a press release. “To continue providing much-needed relief to our small, overrun border towns, Chicago will join fellow sanctuary cities Washington, D.C. and New York City as an additional drop-off location. Mayor Lightfoot loves to tout the responsibility of her city to welcome all regardless of legal status, and I look forward to seeing this responsibility in action as these migrants receive resources from a sanctuary city with the capacity to serve them."

Writing in The Hill, Tom Homan said Biden’s “open borders” policy is a “betrayal.”

"Biden’s open borders are by design," Hoffman wrote. "He came into office, signed executive orders and dismantled the immigration system the Trump administration built. The magnitude of this crisis simply cannot be overstated. The floodgates are wide open, and migrants surging to our border know that more likely than not, if they cross over they have a real shot at staying in the United States."

Hoffman added that the Biden administration has lessened prosecuting illegal immigrants by almost 80% which results in more illegal immigrants. The Hill article noted that "Under Biden’s watch, over 800,000 illegal immigrants have now come into the United States unapprehended — the 'got-aways.' We simply don’t know what criminal types were among them — we do know that just since October, there were 56 people on the terror watchlist among the ones we did apprehend. Biden’s callous disregard for public safety is beyond worrisome.”

Politicians are working to give illegal immigrants the ability to vote in some regions of the nation. New York City aimed to give 800,000 non-citizens the ability to vote in local elections earlier this year. State Supreme Justice Ralph J. Porzio eventually rejected the local ordinance, pointing out that state and constitutional rules forbade non-citizens from exercising their right to vote, The New York Times reported.

Abbott stated that Texas will "continue bussing migrants to sanctuary cities like NYC, DC, & now Chicago until the federal gov't does its job & secures the border.”
