Chicago Fire FC heads west to face the San Jose Earthquakes on Sunday afternoon. The match, starting at 7:30 p.m. CT, will be broadcast globally on MLS Season Pass and locally on wlsam.com (English) and WRTO 1200 AM (Spanish).

Head Coach Frank Klopas will serve a one-game suspension following a red card received during the team’s 4-3 win over the Philadelphia Union on Wednesday. Paulo Nagamura will assume head coaching duties for this match.

The Fire's previous game saw an intense come-from-behind victory at home against the Philadelphia Union, ending in a 4-3 scoreline at Soldier Field. Gastón Giménez scored his first goal of the season, Maren Haile-Selassie netted his fourth goal in four consecutive games, and Hugo Cuypers achieved his first brace of the season.

Two changes have been made to Chicago Fire's lineup since their last match against Philadelphia Union:

Gastón Giménez returns to the starting XI for the seventh time this season and wears the captain’s armband for the first time in 2024. Giménez scored his first goal of the season against Philadelphia.

Hugo Cuypers starts his 22nd game of 2024, making him the only player to start every game for Chicago Fire this year. Cuypers leads the team with nine goals, including two from Wednesday’s match.

Maren Haile-Selassie starts for the 14th time this season. His recent goal ties him with Cuypers as one of two players who have scored in four consecutive matches in 2024. He is also now one of nine players in club history to achieve this feat.

Rafael Czichos starts for a third straight game and his 19th overall in 2024, having recorded his second assist of the season against Philadelphia.

Chris Brady makes his 21st start of the MLS regular season after missing only one game due to international duty.

Kellyn Acosta begins his 19th match in 2024 for Chicago Fire.

Wyatt Omsberg starts his second consecutive match of this MLS Regular Season for Chicago Fire.

Allan Arigoni begins his 20th match of the season, having started every game he has played for Chicago Fire.

Arnaud Souquet starts his third straight and ninth overall match of this MLS regular season.

Brian Gutiérrez makes his 18th MLS regular-season start in 2024.

Chris Mueller returns to the starting lineup for the first time since May 18 against Columbus Crew, marking his ninth start in 2024 and fortieth overall appearance for Chicago Fire.

Unavailable players include defenders Chase Gasper (leg), Andrew Gutman (leg), Tobias Salquist (leg), Carlos Terán (leg); midfielders Xherdan Shaqiri (national team) and Federico Navarro (leg).

Available off-the-bench options include goalkeeper Spencer Richey; defenders Jonathan Dean and Diego Konincks; defender/midfielder Mauricio Pineda; midfielders Javier Casas Jr., Fabian Herbers; forwards Tom Barlow and Georgios Koutsias.
