Chicago Fire FC has announced changes to its coaching staff, parting ways with First Team Assistant Coaches Carlos García and Paulo Nagamura. This decision was made as the club prepares for the upcoming 2025 season.

"While these were difficult decisions, after careful review we felt that a fresh start was important as we head into the 2025 season," said Chicago Fire FC Director of Football and Head Coach Gregg Berhalter. "I’d like to sincerely thank Carlos and Paulo for their contributions to the Club and wish them the best in their future endeavors."

Carlos García joined Chicago Fire after a stint as an assistant coach in Italy's Serie A with Udinese Calcio during the 2022-23 season. His coaching career began in 2017, holding positions at Maccabi Tel Aviv, Chongqing Liangjiang FC, Ecuador National Team, Shenzhen FC, and Beitar Tel Aviv. García started his professional playing career in Spain’s La Liga with RCD Espanyol in 2002 and played as a central defender for various clubs across Spain, Turkey, and Israel over a span of 16 years.

Paulo Nagamura came to Chicago Fire following his role as the youngest head coach in Houston Dynamo's history. Transitioning from his playing career to coaching in 2017, he initially served on Sporting Kansas City II's staff as an assistant coach before becoming head coach in 2018. During his tenure there, he led the team to notable achievements including a USL Championship Western Conference title win. As a player, Nagamura retired from Major League Soccer (MLS) in 2016 after making significant contributions with three Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup titles and two MLS Cups across 252 regular-season appearances.
