The Chicago Sky have completed their coaching staff for the 2025 season under Head Coach Tyler Marsh by hiring Aaron Johnson as a player development coach. Johnson arrives after spending two seasons at his alma mater, the University of Alabama at Birmingham, in the same position. Before that, he worked as a graduate manager there for two seasons. His playing career took him to Finland, Romania, and Poland, as well as a stint with the Bakersfield Jam in the NBA Development League.

Aaron Johnson played college basketball at UAB from 2007 to 2011, where he made a significant mark. He holds the program's all-time assists record with 664 and set a single-season NCAA record with 239 assists during his senior year. In 2011, he also led the NCAA with an average of 7.7 assists per game. Notably, he played alongside current Chicago Sky Head Coach, Tyler Marsh, in college during the 2007-08 season.

Marsh expressed eagerness about Johnson's addition, stating, “I’m very excited to have Aaron join our staff at the Sky. I’ve played alongside him in college and know how much passion and knowledge he brings to the game. He is committed to maximizing player potential, and I know our players will benefit greatly from his expertise and experience.”

Alongside Marsh and Johnson, the Chicago Sky's coaching team includes assistant coaches Courtney Paris, Tanisha Wright, and Rena Wakama. Donnie Marsh is on board as a basketball operations specialist; David Simon will continue as the director of player development, and Can Ozbalkan remains the video coordinator.

The Chicago Sky will begin their 2025 regular season on May 17 with a game against Indiana at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. The team has scheduled three preseason matches, including two against Minnesota on May 6 and 10, and a game versus the Brazilian National Team on May 2 at LSU.
